Despite having lived in southwest London for four decades, I’m embarrassed to admit that I had never been to a rugby match at Twickenham. The Home of England Rugby is practically on my doorstep, but as any local knows, you don’t always need a ticket to soak up the match-day atmosphere: Richmond’s pubs brim with anticipation, trains heave with supporters, and a lively buzz fills the area.
