Moor Hall

One of just ten three Michelin-starred restaurants in the UK, Moor Hall has reinvented the traditional gourmet break. British Travel Journal discovers an unforgettable stay where lunch, not dinner, takes centre stage.
It’s not every day you get to visit a three Michelin-starred restaurant, and so of course things did not go according to plan. I had hoped to arrive at Moor Hall with an hour to spare, but a flat tyre promptly threw a spanner in the works. Eventually, I hurtled up the M6 and arrived hot, bothered and definitely not on time.
Yet as soon as I pulled up the beautifully planted driveway and crossed the threshold of Moor Hall’s elegant Grade II-listed building, the team scooped me up. Settled into a cool corner of the wood-panelled bar, a beautifully crafted wooden drinks trolley promptly glided over, and a seasonal spritz was expertly mixed. Each ingredient – Moor Hall’s own gin, Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs, bitters and a sweet cicely and apricot syrup made from the garden – was introduced in turn. Looking out through leaded windows across the flower-filled gardens, I took my first delicious sip and all tyres, flat or otherwise, seemed a distant memory.
